Joint movement development
Developing joint movements can be an important part of therapeutic gymnastics in the event of injury, surgery, or illness that can lead to limited joint mobility. Here are some common techniques and exercises that can be included in a joint movement development program.:
- Passive exercises accompanied by a physiotherapist: These are exercises during which the physiotherapist actively moves the joint, reaching its maximum amplitude without your participation. This can help in restoring normal joint mobility.
- Active exercises: These are exercises where you actively move the joint on your own. These can include rotational movements, flexible movements, and exercises to strengthen the muscles around the joint.
- Stretching: Stretching exercises can help improve the flexibility of the joint and surrounding tissues.
- Advanced techniques: The inclusion of techniques such as manual therapy, soft tissue manual therapy, and the use of devices to increase range of motion.
Each physical therapy plan should be tailored to each individual patient, taking into account their specific needs, health status, and possible limitations. It is always recommended to consult with a licensed physical therapist or doctor first before starting any therapeutic gymnastics program.
