Indications for cervical conization abroad
Conization of the cervix pursues the goal of resection of pathological foci that cannot be "cauterized" with a pharmaceutical solution. The procedure got its name because of the cone-shaped shape of the tissue section being removed.
Conization is used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
In the first case, it is shown when:
- Unsatisfactory results of simple and extended colposcopy
- Detection of pathological neoplastic cells with a tendency to progression during biopsy, which are not visualized during routine examination
- Diagnostic inefficiency of colposcopy (spread of pathological foci beyond endoscopic imaging)
- Detection of noninvasive cancer or intraepithelial neoplasia during curettage
- Cytological and histological signs of cancer development
- Inconsistencies in the results of cytological and histological examination
For therapeutic purposes, cervical conization is prescribed when:
- Moderate and severe dysplasia (II-III)
- of Cicatricial cords formed on the background of severe labor with multiple ruptures
- Ectropion, which causes cervical deformity
- Oncological processes at an early stage (0-I)
The operation is performed on an outpatient basis on a gynecological chair. In the role of anesthesia, local anesthesia is used in combination with intravenous sedation ("drug sleep"). Less often, general anesthesia or regional anesthesia is performed. Special surgical mirrors are inserted into the patient's vagina for the desired expansion. Electrocoagulants and lasers are used in foreign clinics for conization, which minimizes injury to healthy tissues and prevents intraoperative bleeding. In addition, it helps protect against infection and ensures complete sterility. The procedure is performed in the first phase of the menstrual cycle. The course of surgical intervention is controlled by endoscopic technique. Conization of the cervix takes from 15 to 40 minutes.
Rehabilitation after the procedure
The recovery period after cervical conization is usually painless. If discomfort and pain occur, the patient is prescribed mild analgesics or antispasmodics. Systemic antibiotic drugs of a new generation are also used. The doctor warns the woman about the restrictions individually, depending on the rate of regeneration, the amount of exposure and other parameters.
A well-performed procedure does not have negative consequences for women's health. The material obtained during the procedure must be checked in the laboratory. Having drawn conclusions about the condition of the tissues, taking into account the manipulations performed, the doctor prescribes conservative treatment or gives advice on preventing recurrence of the disease in the future.
