Types of chemical peeling
According to the type and nature of the effect, chemical peels are classified as superficial, median and deep.
- Surface peels are performed on a regular basis. They help maintain the skin of the face in optimal condition, prevent acne outbreaks, normalize sebum production, and stop age-related changes. They are performed using almond, lactic, azelaic, salicylic, fruit and other acids.
- Median peels are performed every 6-12 months and affect the living layers of the epidermis up to the basement membrane. This category includes PRX-T33, PCA, TCA, retinol peeling, and other treatments.
- Deep (or deep) peels are performed using phenolic solutions of high concentration and represent the most traumatic category of the presented. Deep exfoliation is almost not applied to the entire face – cosmetologists prefer to act locally on problem areas. This peeling provides skin renewal at the cellular level, eliminates deep wrinkles and wrinkles, eliminates even the most persistent hyperpigmentation, and cures hyperkeratosis.
Indications for chemical peeling are the following defects:
- Small facial creases
- Age-related wrinkles of moderate severity
- Signs of photoaging
- Acne and post-acne
- Hyperkeratosis
- Pigmented spots
- Flabbiness, dehydration and lethargy of the skin
- Uneven shade and texture of the epidermis
- Excessive sebum production
- Rosacea (telangiectasia, or vascular meshes)
Surface and median peels follow the same algorithm. The cosmetologist cleanses the surface of the skin from cosmetics and impurities. Then a pre-selected chemical composition is applied. Depending on the indications, it can be applied 2-4 times on top of the previous layer with an interval of 1-2 minutes. The composition is kept on the face for a certain exposure, after which it is removed with a neutralizer – an alkaline solution. A soothing and softening mask is applied to the skin.
After the procedure, the doctor gives recommendations on how to protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation, maintain the effect, and take care at home.
